The Effigy Rally SAIL
A mobile-first game that turns the city into a playground
To celebrate Carnaval’s 70th anniversary, we helped design a playful, accessible rally that anyone could join from their smartphone.
- GPS- and QR-based clue discovery
- Custom avatars and interactive badge collection
- Completion-based prizing logic
- CMS-powered rally content and real-time analytics
- Low-bandwidth optimization for on-site use
Technical note
Built entirely in browser (no app install), designed to work in low-connectivity outdoor environments.
Celebrate a visual legacy in an innovative format with a location-based AR feature
Key point
Making the event’s heritage interactive while deepening the emotional connection to Bonhomme through a joyful, low-barrier introduction to AR.
Key features
Discovering Québec City through gamification
Start the adventure
The interactive map turned Québec City into a city-wide playground. By following its markers, participants could locate the 70 effigies scattered across the city and explore each neighbourhood from a fresh perspective.
Capture the effigies
Once an effigy was found, the camera took over. Participants could capture it in augmented reality, blending the real world with gameplay for a lively, interactive experience.
Earn rewards
Each captured effigy earned points and unlocked rewards, creating a sense of progression and fostering friendly competition among players.
For the client
Autonomous management and data visualization
Alongside the user experience, a custom-built administration interface was developed for the client, enabling real-time monitoring and fully autonomous game management.
- Interactive map — Manage and reposition 3D effigies directly on the city map.
- Real-time tracking — Instant access to usage statistics and participant activity.
- Autonomous content management — Update text, images, and points of interest without technical intervention.
- Law 25–compliant data collection — Strict adherence to privacy standards and user data protection requirements.
